Zur Verkalkung bzw. Verknöcherung der Falx cerebri
Calcification and ossification of the falx cerebriPublication History

Summary
Two cases of falx ossification are discussed. In one female patient, falx calcification had been found 17 years earlier following skull trauma, when it was already extensive. This observation contradicts the view that falx calcification is an atavistic feature related to the bony ridge of the Australian platypus. In another female patient, it was possible to show by tomography and tangential views that ossification of the falx was associated with parasagittal frontal calcification. This raises the possibility that these changes were the result of an haematoma due to birth trauma.
