Die AURORA-Studie - Der Einsatz von Statinen lohnt sich bei Hämodialysepatienten nicht

Kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen zählen zu den häufigsten Todesursachen von Dialysepatienten. In den letzten 10 Jahren wurden daher viele Studien mit dem Ziel durchgeführt, das Überleben dieser Patienten und das kardiovaskuläre Outcome zu verbessern - leider ohne nennenswerten Erfolg [1], [2], [3], [4]. Bei kardiovaskulären Hochrisikopatienten hat sich die starke Senkung des LDL-Cholesterin-Levels (LDL: "low-density lipoprotein") durch den Einsatz von Statinen bewährt. Der Nutzen dieser Medikamente bei Hämodialysepatienten war allerdings bis jetzt noch unklar.
