Significance

The platinum-catalyzed cyclo­isomerization of dienynes leads to a strained ­cyclopropane intermediate which rearranges ­selectively to bicyclo[3.2.2]nonadienes or 1,6,7,9a-tetrahydrocyclohepta[c]pyrans and -pyridines depending on the nature of the ­substrate.
