Significance

Fréchet-type poly(aryl ether) dendrimers incorporating a 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene core were prepared using a cheeky cyclocondensation reaction. The use of the aromatic allyl ethers as both hydroxyl protecting groups and sites for the subsequent hydrosilylation make this an insightfully conservative synthesis. The authors also found UV-Vis absorption a good tool for monitoring the experimental number of colbaltbisdicarbollide units attached to the dendritic structure.
