Fibre integrity during functional recovery
Understanding brain plasticity after stroke is important in developing rehabilitation strategies but the anatomical changes underlying recovery remain obscure.
Diiffusion tensor and high-angular resolution tractography methods like Q-ball or Diffusion Spectrum Imaging (DSI) could help in giving an insight into plasticity mechanisms underlying recovery of function after ischemic stroke. In this seminary, we will discuss advantages and disadvantages of the above mentioned tractography methods and present the results of a first pilot study combining and applying those techniques to stroke patients.
