ISOLIERUNG, IDENTIFIZIERUNG UND BIOSYNTHESE VON ANTHRACHINONEN IN ZELLSUSPENSIONSKULTUREN VON MORINDA CITRIFOLIA
Isolation, Identification and Biosynthesis of Anthraquinones in Cell Suspension Cultures of Morinda citrifoliaPublication History
Publication Date:

Abstract
Alizarin (1), rubiadin (11), nordamnacantbal (III) and morindone (IV) have been isolated front cell suspension cultures of Morinda citrifolia L. Lucidin (V), an anthraquinone hitherto not known to be a constituent of the intact Morinda plant, has been shown to occur in the tissue culture and in minor amounts in the root of the intact plant. Extraction of cultured cells with ethanol yields lucidin–ω–ethylether and a compound which is likely to be an artefact (VI) of an anthraquinone which has not previously been described. These anthraquinones are shown to be derived from o-succinylbenzoic acid.
