The corrosion currents of the contact element titanium implant connected with superstructures of different dental metals (CoCrMo alloy Wirobond, titanium with purity 4 and high contained gold alloy Degunorm) were researched. An unbuffered physiologic salt solution as well with a pH value of 6 as with a pH value of 2,3 adjusted with lactic acid served as electrolytes. The contact element titanium implant / cobalt chrome superstructure shows the lowest corrosion current pro area of about 3 nA/ cm2 in both solutions. The corrosion current pro area measured for the superstructures of titanium respectively high contained gold alloy reached with 100 nA/cm2 respectively 180 nA/cm2 a significantly higher level. The results of this research show that there are no objections neither to the use of CoCrMo superstructures on implants regarding their corrosion resistance nor to the use of titanium or high contained gold alloy.
