Summary

Four cohort studies of patients with plated distal radial fractures examined the impact of an untreated concomitant ulnar styloid fracture on patient outcomes. These four studies suggest that the presence of an untreated ulnar styloid fracture compared with no ulnar fracture does not impact the final outcome after surgical treatment of the distal radial fracture. By the time of final follow-up (1–2 years) no significant differences were found for any outcome in patients whether or not an ulnar styloid fracture was present.
