Summary

Data from five case series suggest that talar neck fractures are a significant injury. Complications that include pain, osteonecrosis, and osteoarthritis are not infrequent following open reduction and internal fixation of this fracture. Additionally, one study reported that a significant proportion of patients required secondary reconstructive surgery. Unfortunately, very few studies reported on objective functional outcome measures.
