Die Bestimmung der Arten des Genus Rheum bleibt meistens infolge des Mangels an brauchbaren morphologischen Merkmalen unsicher.
Als gutes Hilfsmittel erwies sich die Art der Behaarung, die für Rh. palmatum, Rh. officinale, Rh. wittrockü, Rh. altaicum, Rh. franzenbachii, Rh.
kialense und Rh. ribes eingehender untersucht wurde. Die nahe verwandten Arten Rh. palmatum und Rh. officinale lassen sich auf diese Weise eindeutig voneinander trennen.
Summary
On account of lack of morphological characteristics the botanical differentiation
of the species of the genus Rheum is uncertain. The present work reports of an attempt, which has been made to differentiate
systematically the various species of the genus Rheum, taking advantage of the hairy character of the plant. This proved to be useful in
cases of Rh. palmatum, Rh. officinale, Rh. wittrockii, Rh. altaicum, Rh. franzenbachii, Rh.
kialense and Rh. ribes. Even the closely related species Rh. palmatum and Rh. officinale can be differentiated quite exactly on account of their hairs.
