Summary

The gross morphology and the histology of the stem and root of R. cumminsii Stapf have been described and illustrated. The dimensions of the principal cell structures and contents are recorded.

The adulteration or substitution of R. vomitoria roots with R. cumminsii roots in the entire condition can be readily detected and the adulterant or substitute identified.

Zusammenfassung

Das gelegentliche Auftreten verdächtiger Handelsdroge von Rauwolfia vomitoria war Anlaß andere als Verfälschung in Betracht kommende ostafrikanische Arten anatomisch zu beschreiben. Die vorliegende Untersuchung gilt R. cumminsii, die auf Grund ihrer anatomischen Merkmale gut identifiziert werden kann.
