Summary

The underground parts of Trachomitum venetum (L), Woods on, growing in the sand dunes near the bulgarian Black Sea beach, contain rubber–like substances, triterpenoids (α–amyrine acetate, α–amyrine, an ester of lupeole, C45H78O3), β–sitosterole, p–oxyacetophenone, sugars (saccharose, glucose and fructose), tannins, starch and pectic substances, as well as traces of a strophanthine like glycoside. With the exception of the mentioned glycosides the plant contains similar substances as Apocynum cannabinum.
