Abstract

Chemical investigation of the dried flowers of Cassia occidentalis has revealed the presence of Physcion, Emodin, Physcion 1–β–D–glucopyranoside and β–Sitosterol. The compounds were characterised by the direct comparison (mixed m. p., T. L. C. and I. R.) with authentic samples.
