Zusammenfassung

Es wird über die postoperative Beatmung bei 192 Patienten nach Eingriffen am offenen Herzen berichtet. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß die routine-mäßige prophylaktische Beatmung selbst beim Klappenersatz unnötig ist. Die Extubation nach Übergang auf Spontanatmung kann erfolgen, wenn der Patient wach und ansprechbar ist und seine Atemarbeit ohne Anstrengung durchführen kann.

Summary

We report on postoperative mechanical ventilation in 192 patients after open-heart-surgery. It has been shown, that the prophylactic respiration in cases of valve operations is most time unnecessary. The extubation and change to spontaneous ventilation is performed when the patient is awake and adressable and is able to do his breathwork by himself without any effort.
