Summary

Intubation of the colon is advised as a preliminary to colonoscopy. Retrograde colonoscopy should therefore be preceded by transanal introduction of a “colon tube” under radiological control. Multiple suction biopsies using the Quinton tube can be alternated with colonoscopy through the “colon tube” without further discomfort to the patient.
