Abstract

The seeds of Strychnos potatorum have been investigated for triterpenes and sterols. The isolated triterpenes have been found to be of amyrin and lupeol series on the basis of IR, NMR, and mass spectral evidence. A spectral study of the sterol material suggests it to be a mixture of β-sitosterol and stigmasterol.
