Abstract

The chloroform fraction (CF) of the petroleum ether extract of the seeds of Daucus carota showed inhibitory effect on spontaneous uterine motility and oxytocin induced contractions. Histamine induced contraction of guinea pig ileum was inhibited. No significant effect was observed on skeletal muscle, isolated guinea pig heart, ECG of guinea pigs and rabbit blood pressure.
