Abstract

Optimum conditions have been established for the extraction of silicon species from Equisetum arvense herb with water. Extraction rate was measured at 20, 30, SO, and 90° and the effect was studied of particle size of the herb and addition of glucose and saccharose on the extraction rate. The stability of the aqueous extracts was determined, as well. Experiments with dry and fresh herb were carried out and the balance of silicon in the extraction process was determined.
