Abstract

Aqueous extracts from leaves of Solanum dulcamara were found to contain bound sterols, which were released from their bound by treatment with alkalin pyrogallol. The quantitative composition of this sterol fraction differs from that of the lipidsoluble sterols. In particular there is an increase in the percentage of cholesterol and a decrease in the percentage of campesterol.
