Abstract
Three flavonoidal compounds were isolated from the flowers of Inula viscosa L. and
identified by spectral methods (Mass, NMR, 1R, UV) and chemical reactions. These were
3–methoxyquercetin–7–glucoside, 3–methoxyquercetin and quercetin. 3–methoxyquercetin–7–glucoside
is a new compound that was isolated for the first time in nature.
Inula viscosa L. (Compositae) is found in various sections of Turkey. A study with
the chloroform extract of this plant was carried out by Öksüz (1976) and ω–taraxasterol acetate was identified. There is only one publication dealing
with flavonoidal compounds of Inula species. In this study quercetin and iso-quercitrin
were isolated from Inula britanica L. by Dombrowicz and Greiner (1968).
