Abstract
In Juniperus communis L. the following tannin producing substances could be detected: (+)–afzelechin, (–)–epiafzelechin, (+)–catechin, (–)–epicatechin, (+)–gallocatechin and (–)–epigallocatechin.
They all belong to the 5,7–hydroxy–flavane–3–ols. The occurrence of flavane––3, 4–diols could not be made sure, though their presence seems to be possible. Consequently it is obvious, that the tannin of Juniperus belongs to the group of condensed tannins.
