Alkaloids, Triterpenes and Lignans from Zanthoxylum sp. Sevenet 11831– a Species Inigenous to New Caledonia2

1 Note added in Proof. The specimen SEVENET 1183 has been examined by Mr. P. S. GREEN(Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) who states that it appears allied to Zanthoxylum oriophilum (GUILLAUMIN) WATERM. Unfortunately the confused situation existing with regard to species delineation among New Caledonian Zanthoxylum species makes a more positive statement impossible at present. 2 Part 53 in the series: „Plants from New Caledonia”. Abstract

The alkaloids canthin–6–one and nitidine, the lignans (–)–asarinin, (–)–sesa–min and (+)–piperitol–3,3–dimethylallylether, and the triterpenes lupeol and sitosterol have been isolated from an as yet un–named Zanthoxylum species from New Caledonia.
