Abstract

I.V. infusion in man of 1 mg of glucagon (5.5 µg/min) significantly decreases plasma concentration of magnesium from 1.65 ± 0.03 to 1.44 ± 0.03 mEq/1 at 120th min ("t" for coupled data = 5.0058; p < 0.001).

This new observed phenomenon is contemporaneous and in higher percentage to well known glucagon-induced hypocalcemia.
