Abstract
The stop flow patterns of free and glucuronide conjugated Cortisol were studied in
five anesthetized dogs. The results indicate that free Cortisol was reabsorbed primarily
along the distal tubules. ACTH had no effect on the reabsorption of free Cortisol
by the distal tubules, but it did increase free Cortisol reabsorption by the proximal
tubules. The stop flow patterns for Cortisol glucuronide demonstrate that this conjugated
steroid was secreted along the entire length of the renal tubules and ACTH had no
effect on its secretion.
