Abstract
The effect of 200 mg 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) on prolactin and growth hormone secretion
in six normal subjects did not differ significantly from the effect of placebo alone.
Therefore, 5-HTP would not be a useful provocative stimulus to study prolactin and
growth hormone secretion in man.
