Plasma pancreatic glucagon, insulin and glucose were measured hourly in four healthy
adult subjects during 24 hrs of the day. Plasma glucose and insulin levels increased
after each meal and were invariable during night. The increase of plasma insulin after
supper was not so remarkable as that after breakfast irrespective of its higher blood
sugar level confirming a lower glucose tolerance in the evening. Plasma pancreatic
glucagon showed a fairly constant level during day and night in normal subjects just
as the total glucagon level reported by others.
