Aplasia of the anterior cerebral arteries: Angiographic study of a case

Summary

The embryological development and the anatomical variations of the anterior cerebral arteries (A. C. A.) are described. The case report with the angiographic studies is presented, followed by a discussion of the literature concerning the absence of the A. C. A. in angiograms. In the commentary we come to the conclusion that in this case a congenital absence of the A. C. A. existed on the right side and a very severe hypoplasia on the left.

Zusammenfassung

Die embryologische Entwicklung und die anatomischen Variationen der vorderen Zerebralarterien (A. C. A.) werden beschrieben. Es wird ein Fallbericht mit angiographischen Untersuchungen vorgetragen, gefolgt von einer Diskussion der Literatur über die Abwesenheit der A. C. A. in Angiogrammen. Im Kommentar kommen wir zu dem Schluß, daß in diesem Fall eine angeborene Abwesenheit der A. C. A. rechts und eine sehr ernste Hypoplasie links vorhanden war.

Se describan el desarollo embriológico y las variaciones anatómicas de las arterias cerebrales anteriores (A. C. A.). Se presenta el informe del caso con los estudios angiográficos seguido por una discusión de la literatura acerca de la falta de las A. C. A. en angiogramas. En el comentario, llegamos a la conclusión de que en este caso existía una ausencia congénita de las A. C. A. en el lado derecho y una hipoplasia aguda en el izquierdo.
