Abstract
The role of the clinical measurement of evoked otoacoustic emissions to assist in the differential diagnosis of cochlear versus retocochlear hearing disorders is presented. Illustrative examples are provided for the following disorders: Vita nerve tumors, idiopathic sudden hearing loss, sudden hearing loss related to multiple sclerosis, a child with a profound hearing loss, and an adult under consideration for a cochlear implant.
