Abstract

Diisobutylaluminium hydride has been found to be an excellent reducing agent for phosphinites, phosphinates, and chlorophosphines. By performing reductions in situ, direct synthesis of secondary phosphine boranes from Grignard reagents has been achieved without isolation or purification of any intermediates.
