Simultaneous determination of lignans, aristolactam alkaloids and flavonoids in the Saururus chinensis by validated HPLC-DAD-MS/MS
Saururus chinensis (Saururaceae) has been used in Korean folk medicine for the treatment of edema, jaundice and gonorrhoea. A method coupling HPLC-DAD and ESI-MS/MS was established for the characterization of lignans, aristolactam alkaloids and flavonoids in the S. chinensis. Ten compounds were unambiguously identified comparing experimental data for retention time, UV spectra and MS/MS fragmentation patterns with those of the authentic compounds: rutin (1), quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→2)-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (2), quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucuronide (3), quercitrin (4), quercetin (5), aristolactam AII (6), saurolactam (7), sauchinone (8), saucereneol A (9) and manassantin A (10). Furthermore, a HPLC-DAD method has been performed for the simultaneous determination of five marker constituents, rutin (1), quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→2)-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (2), quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucuronide (3), quercitrin (4), and sauchinone (8) in extract of aerial part of S. chinensis collected in different seasons of harvest.
