Some of our recent results on the chemical investigation of Taonia atomaria [1,2,3] a chemotaxonomically disputed member of the Dictyotaceae family, include new oxidized derivatives (2,3,4,5,6,7) of sargaquinone (1). The structure elucidation of the isolated metabolites was based on the interpretation of their 1D and 2D spectral data (1H-1H COSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC) and their HRFAB mass spectra.
