Neurologische Einbindung in die SAPV – Umfrage in Mitteldeutschland
Neurology in Outpatient Palliative Care – Survey in Central GermanyAuthors
Abstract
Objective
The cooperation between outpatient palliative care teams and neurologists as well as relevance of neurological symptoms in palliative patients should be investigated.
Methods
Outpatient palliative care teams in Central Germany were questioned on neurological symptoms and cooperation with neurologists. The data have been analyzed by descriptive statistics.
Results
36 people took part in the survey, 22 questionnaires have been duly completed. The respondents voted for a better cooperation. Agitation and cognitive changes have been evaluated as most burdensome for patients and relatives. Study limitations are the regional restriction and the missing response rate.
Conclusion
There is need for a better structured collaboration between neurologists and outpatient palliative care. Symptoms of delirium have been described as most burdensome. Neurologists may help to find out causes of delirium and an appropriate treatment.
