Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) wird zur psychotherapeutischen Behandlung von Traumafolgestörungen eingesetzt. Zentrales Vorgehen ist hierbei die gleichzeitige Konzentration sowohl auf die schlimmsten Momente der belastenden Erinnerungen als auch auf die bilaterale Stimulation, meist anhand von bilateralen Augenbewegungen. Hierzu wird ein stark manualisierter Behandlungsplan aus acht Phasen eingesetzt.
