Die Behandlung lebensbedrohlicher externer Blutungen steht im <c>ABCDE-Trauma-Algorithmus an erster Stelle. Neben manueller Kompression und Tourniquet-Anlage ist die Wundtamponade mit oder ohne Hämostyptika eine wesentliche Behandlungsoption. Dieser Beitrag stellt die Grundzüge der korrekten Anwendung vor.
