Alcohol associated Liver Disease (ALD) has been a neglected disease and heavily underfunded clinical research entity throughout decades, mainly due to the label of self-infliction. Recently ALD gained more public and research interest, since there have been made major advances in the clinical management of Hepatitis B and C, the alarming increase in alcohol consumption in emerging countries, and in the context of risky social drinking in the upper class of the society.
