Ungleichgewicht von Produktion und Resorption des LCS

Nachdem William Garner Sutherland 1900 an der American School of Osteopathy graduiert hatte [1], forschte er über Jahrzehnte an der Entwicklung seines kranialen Konzepts. Dabei entdeckte und lehrte er auch die Wichtigkeit und zentrale Rolle des Liquor cerebrospinalis (LCS). Mittlerweile ist dieser für viele Osteopathen ein wichtiger Parameter bei der osteopathischen Diagnostik und Therapie. Solange wir uns im Bereich der normalen, ausgeglichenen LCS-Physiologie befinden, ist eine kraniale Dynamik gut wahrnehmbar. Aber wenn ein gewisses Ungleichgewicht zwischen LCS-Produktion und -Resorption entsteht, steigt der intrakraniale Druck (ICP), sodass die kraniale Dynamik abnimmt. Mit diesem Beitrag und dem Fallbeispiel versuchen wir, anhand aktueller Studien ein besseres Verständnis von diesem Gleichgewichtsphänomen für die osteopathische Anwendung zu vermitteln.
