Dörte Wichmann et al. Endoscopic negative pressure therapy with open-pore film drainage and open-pore polyurethane sponge drainage for iatrogenic perforation of the esophagus

Endoscopic negative pressure therapy (ENPT) with open-pore film or open-pore poylurethan sponge drainage was used in nine patients with iatrogenic esophageal perforation (IEP). Although effective, additional video-assisted thoracic surgery was required in four patients. Therefore, ENPT, with or without minimally invasive surgery, can be considered for sepsis control in IEP.
