Die Lebenserwartung und die Lebensqualität von rückenmarkgeschädigten Menschen wurden durch eine verbesserte medizinische Versorgung in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich erhöht. Familienplanung und Kinderwunsch gehören heutzutage selbstverständlich zum Leben von Menschen mit einer Behinderung. Die fachspezifische Versorgung von Frauen mit Querschnittlähmung ist noch lückenhaft und bedarf besonderer Zuwendung.
