Abstract

The measurement of the arterial stiffness using digital volume plethysmography is a non-invasive method to assess the function of the arteries and thus the cardiovascular risk. Its importance and possible applications in daily practice have been verified and confirmed in recent years by major studies such as the population-based Gutenberg Health Study at the University Medical Center Mainz on over 12 000 people.
