Dr. med. Hedwig Gupta arbeitet seit 25 Jahren auf dem Gebiet von Ayurveda und Yogatherapie. Ihre Ausbildungen in diesem Bereich hat sie sowohl im traditionellen Lehrer-Schüler-System bei Dr. OP Tiwari als auch im universitären System an der Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Indien, absolviert. Sie ist Fachärztin für Orthopädie mit Schwerpunkt Rheumatologie und führt die Zusatzbezeichnungen Akupunktur und Manuelle Therapie.

Als Mitbegründerin und -initiatorin der Fachgesellschaften ist sie derzeit Vorstandsvorsitzende der DÄGAM (Deutsche Ärztegesellschaft für Ayurveda-Medizin, www.daegam.de ) und 2. Vorsitzende der DeGYT (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Yogatherapie, www.degyt.de). Neben der ärztlichen Praxis gründete und leitet sie die vidya sagar Akademie für Ayurveda und Yogatherapie (www.vidya-sagar.de), in der diese Fachgebiete auf hohem Niveau gelehrt werden, und den Verlag für Vedische Wissenschaften e.K. ( www.verlag-vedische-wissenschaften.com ), einem Fachbuchverlag für vedische Medizin.
