Some 30 years ago, a revolutionary advance in endoscopy was accomplished by joining an endoscope with a US probe, introducing the new era of EUS. EUS allows GI endoscopists not just to see the inner surface of the GI tract, but also to image in real time the full thickness of the GI tract wall and adjacent structures and organs.
