In der Kleintierklinik Bern wurde eine retrospektive Studie zervikaler Bandscheibenvorfälle bei der Französischen Bulldogge und anderen betroffenen Rassen durchgeführt. Wissen Sie, warum Französische Bulldoggen bereits mit niedrigeren Neuro-Graden eingewiesen werden als andere Hunde?

Die Ergebnisse der retrospektiven Studie zeigten, dass Französische Bulldoggen besonders häufig von zervikalen Bandscheibenvorfällen betroffen waren. Die Hunde wurden daher mit anderen chondrodystrophen Rassen und einer häufig gehaltenen nicht chondrodystrophen Rasse (Labrador Retriever) verglichen:

  • alle Rassen

    • männliche Hunde 1,6-mal häufiger betroffen als weibliche Tiere

    • höchste Prävalenz: Zwischenwirbelscheibe C3/4

  • Französische Bulldoggen

    • häufiger und in einem früheren Alter betroffen

    • häufiger mit einem Body Condition Score in der Norm

    • wurden bereits mit einem früheren Neuro-Grad eingewiesen

  • Therapie

    • Erfolgsrate für die konservative Behandlung lag bei 50%

    • bei > ⅔ aller Fälle war die chirurgische Dekompression die zielführende Therapie
