Abstract

Although the treatment modality of the fascial distortion model exists since the 1990ies, clinical studies on its effectiveness are still rare. Consequently, FDM is still an expert-based rather than a method supported by external evidence.

The employed techniques are usually extremely painful. Therefore, the ethical question remains, whether patients should be exposed to pain despite unclear benefit.
