Ergebnisse aus der Forschung möglichst schnell vom Labor zum Patienten zu bringen (Translation), um Diabetes besser vorbeugen und behandeln zu können sowie Folgeerkrankungen zu vermeiden, ist das Ziel des Deutschen Zentrums für Diabetesforschung (DZD). Das DZD wurde vor 10 Jahren, am 24. Juni 2009, auf Initiative des Bundesforschungsministeriums gegründet. Mehr als 400 Experten unterschiedlicher Disziplinen wie Grundlagenforschung, Epidemiologie, Versorgungsforschung und Klinik arbeiten gemeinsam an neuen personalisierten Präventions- und Therapiekonzepten. Mit Erfolg: Die Forschungsarbeiten des DZD helfen nicht nur, die Entstehung der Stoffwechselerkrankung besser zu verstehen, sondern legen auch wichtige Grundlagen für innovative Präventions- und Behandlungsverfahren.
