Das Management des Diabetes mellitus ist anspruchsvoll, behandelte Hunde können jedoch eine gute Lebensqualität haben. Die Insulintherapie ist bei diabetischen Hunden absolut unerlässlich. Eine adäquate Ernährung, regelmäßige Bewegung und Behandlung der Begleiterkrankungen ist wichtig, um einen guten Therapieerfolg zu erzielen.
