Summary

Primary hyperhidrosis, or uncontrollable sweating, is a condition that affects the social and psychological well-being of millions of people worldwide. It can present in several focal, eccrine-dense areas, with the axillae being one of the most common. Following diagnosis and an assessment of severity, patients can choose from several treatment options for axillary hyperhidrosis. These include topical, injectable, and systemic pharmacological treatments, and devices such as lasers and microwave energy delivery systems. We explain here the effectiveness and techniques involved in these treatment options, postoperative care, and management of potential complications.
