Significance

Neopeltolide was isolated from a marine sponge related to Daedalopelta sollas and shows nM IC50 values against lung adenocarcinoma, ovarian sarcoma and murine leukemia. This synthesis relied on the concomitant tetrahydro-pyran formation (FG) and macrocyclization (G H) catalyzed by scandium triflate.
