Isolation and Structure of Cleistanthoside A

Abstract

A new diphyllin diglycoside, named Cleistanthoside A has been isolated from the heartwood of Cleistanthus patulus MUELL., ARG., and its structure elucidated as diphyllin-4-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→2)]-β-3,4-di-O-methyl-D-xylopyranoside. Other lignans isolated were (+)-sesamin, taiwanin C, paulownin, cleistanthin A and diphyllin, also β-sitosterol.
