Abstract

Ethanolic extract of the whole plant of Trianthema portulacastrum L. (Aizoaceae) showed the following activities: antipyretic (against yeast pyrexia in rats) onset: <1 hr; peak; 2 hr -2.27° C; duration: > 5 hr: analgesic (against chemical and electrical stimuli): antiinflammatory (30.43% inhibition of formaldehyde induced arthritis in rats): in vitro antibacterial (particularly against gram positive bacteria): also CNS depressant properties.
