Abstract

From the herb of Aerva lanata six alkaloids were isolated. Canthin-6-one (1) and β-carboline-1-propionic acid (5) have been found previosly while 10-methoxy-canthin-6-one (2), 10-hydroxy-canthin-6-one (3),10-O-β-D-glucopyranosyloxycanthin-6-one (4), 6-methoxy-β-carboline-1-propionic acid (6) are new alkaloids. Their structures were determined by means of spectoscopic analysis and chemical transformations.
